What an IU is, stated plainly
Every AI platform meters something. Most will not tell you what. Here is the arithmetic, and you can check it against any model provider's published rates.
Output counts five times input because that is the ratio every major provider charges. The class multiplier reflects the model actually used — and Alti picks the cheapest model that clears the job, so most of your consumption lands in the lowest band.

Before you ask us
What happens when we run out of Intelligence Units?
You get soft alerts at 80% and 100% of the pooled allowance, and then you pay the metered rate for what you use beyond it. We do not throttle a seat quietly, and allowances are pooled at the account so one heavy week does not punish one person.
Do allowances really pool?
Yes — intelligence, storage and agents all pool at the account level. A team of ten with one heavy user does not need to buy that user their own plan.
Why price agents separately from people?
Because an agent is a party, not a licence. It has its own handle, its own keys, its own scoped grants and its own audit trail, and those cost something to run whether or not a human is logged in that day.
Do you train models on our work?
No. Business and above run with Zero Data Retention at the model layer, and nothing in your corpus is used to train anything, on any plan.
Can we start small and move up?
Yes, at any point, and the pooled allowances recalculate immediately. Moving down takes effect at the end of the term.
Which currencies can we be billed in?
US dollars and pounds sterling are listed here. Euro pricing is available on request while the list is finalised.
